Atom 1 (8382), 2011-2012, LL (Grand River Mustangs)

Our last game of the season was against Atom 2 and although our girls played fantastic, they ended up on the wrong end of a 3-1 game. Another stellar game in net by Leah, who made some great saves, especially a great kick pad save on a breakaway. Lone goal of the game was by Ella with an assist from Tessa. We had some good chances, but couldn't get more than one goal passed Catie.

Another trip to Waterloo, another 0-0 tie. The girls played well, especially in the other teams end where they controlled the play for a lot of the game. However, we couldn't get a shot past the Water-water-water-loo-loo-loo goalie. Another strong game in net by Leah, who managed another shutout. The defence played well today, shutting down the other team whenever they threatened. The forwards forechecked well to keep Waterloo scrambling in their own end. Now if only we could find a way to score :-)

We travelled to Oakville to play in the annual Hornets tournament. Our whole team was able to make the tourney and we all got to hang out together at the hotel. A great weekend was had by all! Game 1 was against the Oakville Tigers. We came out strong and had a 1-0 lead until the very end. Unfortunately, the Tigers potted the tying goal with only 12 seconds to go. A very strong game against a very strong team. Leah played her best game off the year in net!

We travelled to RIM arena in Waterloo today and battled to a 0-0 tie. Congrats to Leah who played an awesome game in net for the shutout. We battled hard and had many chances but couldn't put the puck past the Ravens goalie. Well played team effort to get the single point. Now it's off to Oakville!

We came out firing on all cylinders today as the girls came away with a 5-2 win against Ayr. 4 of the 5 goals were scored on rebounds or scrambles around the net which means our players are doing what we ask ... go to the net! Goals were scored by Ella with 2, Brooke, Lindsay and Grace, Grace scored on a shot from a difficult angle that went in off one of their defence, which proves that it's never a bad idea to shoot. Assists in the game were by Ella, Grace and Lindsay. Great game in net by Karla. Well done girls!
