The Big 50 - A Rare Monday Exhibition Tilt
The Atom rep team reached the 1/2 Century mark Monday night as they played a Provincial warm up exhibition match against the Flamborough Falcons BB. Game number 50 was a pretty good tilt as they took it up a notch in level of play. Kara den Hoed actually opened the scoring for the visitors in their purple sweaters with silver trim. Assist on that marker go to Lindsay Bouwman and Madison Bender.
The second period saw the Stangs get another as Rachel Patterson's point shot deflected up and over the keeper, helper to Frances Wolkensperg. An old school hockey lesson was learned on this night - "2-0 going into the third in the worse lead in hockey!" Flamborough woke up in third and notched a single and then the even up marker with their keeper on the bench. Tough one, but overall a solid effort and a great measuring stick for Provincials and next season. Practice Thursday ladies.
