Knocking On The Door
Knee deep in playoff hockey, the Mustangs took on the Brampton Canadettes in Provincial Playdowns at the Baby Corral in Elora.

Just as the games with Brampton have been in the past, it was a physical contest right out of the gate. After a scoreless first, it was time to get down to some real hockey with Frannie scoring almost a carbon copy of her goal a night earlier as she fired a beauty top shelf to light up the scoreboard 1-0. Just over a minute later, Fries went five hole on the Brampton goalie to put the home team up by 2-0.

With a 2-0 lead heading into the third, the girls sat back and it came back to bite them. Brampton fired four shots on goal in the first forty six seconds, two went in and the game was suddenly 2-2. On the power play the Mustangs looked to get back on the plus side of the scoreboard. With some tenacious work at the Brampton blue line, Tegan kept the puck in the offensive zone. Gaining some space, she sent a wrist shot at the Canadette goal that handcuffed the goalie and went up and over into the net.

With a 3-2 lead, Court made the pass of the night right on to Marisa's freshly taped twig. Marisa screamed down the left wing launching the fourth and final goal high glove side to make the score 4-2.

Although a spot has not been clinched for the Provincials in April, with the win the Mustangs now have 7 out of a possible 8 points and are knocking on the door.
