Clear Skies: The Storm Has Passed
After a strong road effort the night before, the Mustangs were back on the ice less than 24hrs later at the Corral for game 3 against the North York Storm.

The girls came out quickly, buzzing the North York net. Although the pressure was there the Mustangs couldn't find the back of the net as the first period ended with zeros on the scoreboard.

North York shook off the "road lag" from the drive out to the sticks (as some NY parents called it) to apply some pressure of their own to start the second. The girls weathered the Storm, until they managed to get a power play with four minutes to go in the period. With the extra room to skate, Frannie walked out from the corner and buried the games first goal to put the home team up 1-0.

The 1-0 score held up until the dying minutes of the game. With the Storm goalie on the bench and an extra attacker on the ice, North York scored with 1:13 left to tie up the game 1-1. With the tension building in the arena (welcome aboard grey hair) the Storm pressed for the go ahead goal. It was not to be, with thirty seconds to go Frannie sealed the series win with an empty net goal she walked into the net. With the 2-1 win the girls advanced to the third round of the playoffs against the Vaughn Flames. Great game ladies, one more hurdle has been passed.

No rest for the Mustangs as they are back in Provincial Playdowns Monday in the baby Corral against Orangeville and on the road Tuesday in Bolton vs the Caledon Coyotes.
