Mustangs Tame Ice Cats
Fresh off their Xmas party two days prior, the Stangs were well rested and ready to tangle with the Brantford Ice Cats on home ice. It was a rematch of the Mustangs Day game that saw the Ice Cats win a heartbreaker with a last minute breakaway.

Despite being well rested, it was the visiting Ice Cats that pressed the play early. Weathering the storm, the home team Mustangs got the first goal of the game as Erika unleashed the hammer from the boards and in for the early 1-0 lead. But before the ink was dry on the scoresheet, Brantford walked right down the ice and tied it up at 1-1. A sign that this game was going to be a dog fight. With time dwindling in the first, "The Bigs" hit the ice and dominated in the opposition end with Hal getting the go ahead goal with 2.4 seconds to go.

The lead would hold until midway though the second as Brantford got a lucky bounce and knotted the score up at 2-2. Not to be outdone with Hal's last second heroics in the first period, "The Legend" scored with a helper from Kai to push the Stangs up 3-2. The time on the scoresheet for the goal was 0.0.

Already a physical game, the intensity would just amp up in the third. Despite bodies flying everywhere, the refs provided some hometown love by calling the only two penalties of the game against Grand River, with 3:34 left to play. Although being shorthanded 8 on 3 (Brantford pulled goalie), the girls held tall and picked up the 'Dub". It was the most balanced game the girls played in weeks and it showed in both ends of the ice.
