With a big weekend on deck for the Mustangs (games against the #1 Wild and #2 RoadRunners), the Bantam BB girls had to make a quick pitstop beforehand in the Royal City for a Wednesday night tilt.
Maybe looking forward to the weekend slate (or semi formal on Friday), Grand River found themselves down by one midway through the first. The one goal deficit was the spark that the road team needed to step up their play for the remainder of the game. Leading on the shot clock & controlling the play along the boards didn’t immediately pay off though. As the girls rang pucks off the iron, time ticked down and they trailed 1-0 heading into the final frame.
With 4:38 left to go the girls got the equalizer. Deep in the Grand River zone, Hartzy pinned her girl along the wall to allow Kai to come in and pick up the loose puck. Seconds later, after a crisp tape-to-taper it was on the “Legend’s” twig as Roon screamed down the right side. One NHL 18 move later and the game was tied at 1-1. The final four minutes of the game would decide nothing as Grand River steals a point heading into the weekend.
