Bring On 2018
With 2017 in the rearview mirror it was time for the Bantam BB Mustangs to get back to work. With a schedule that will see the girls play 7 games in the next 10 days there would be no time to shake of the rust. First up was a road game in the heart of Kitchener against the Lady Rangers.

With new lines and the energy provided by being back together after the break, the Stangs came out flying. With the forecheck in place and the rested legs to match it was all Grand River out of the gate. The first goal of 2018 would go to Jaime Glerum as she cut in around the Kitchener D and buried the puck glove side. Despite the early lead, the Lady Rangers would rebound and score three of their own over the next 10 minutes and take a 3-1 lead into the third.

Taking the draw to start the third, Kai won it and was off to the races. Breaking ankles she dangled her way through the home team and scored to cut the lead to 3-2. Five minutes later the comeback was completed when the newly formed "Flintstone" line tied it up. Chaser got the initial shot away leaving it on the doorstep for Hal & Burnzie to crash the net and when the bodies cleared it was in and the game was now 3-3. The remainder of the game continued to be a physical affair with both teams hungry for the two points. Despite throwing everything they could at the Kitchener net, the Mustangs couldn't break through for the go ahead goal and were happy to come away with the point.

It was the strongest & most balanced offensive effort of the season for Grand River as each and every forward had a chance to score. Great way to start the second half of the season!
