U18B, Rep, 2022-2023 (Grand River Mustangs)

Good Evening, Just a little information before Saturdays tryout. We will be playing Kitchener and I would ask all players coming to the tryout to be prepared to play. I will scratch players if there is a need. If you have not played for me or are an Import from another centre you will be playing.If you plan on attending the tryout could you send me a quick email with players full name, and position trying out for. After beating out Woolwich in round 1, the U18B Mustangs had Wilmot in round 2 and the Central West title was up for grabs. Wilmot and Grand River were the class of the league all season and it was a finals match up that didn't disappoint.

Playing four provincial play down games in eight days, the U18B Mustangs won all four to clinch a spot in the Provincial tourney in Brampton on April 14-16. The Stangs got a taste of how tough playoff hockey can be as their usual high flying offence was slowed down by both Mt Forest and North Halton. With scoring down, goaltenders Paige Houle and Bree MacLeod stepped up big time. Pitching two shutouts each, Paige and Bree carried the Mustangs through the play down gauntlet without surrendering a single goal. After starting the season with a single win in their first 6 games, the U18B team went on to win 16 straight games to clinch top spot in the Central West loop.  Using balanced scoring from every player on the roster and stingy goaltending, the Mustangs finished the regular season leading the loop in both goals for and fewest goals against. With first place sewn up, the girls of Grand River will start league playoffs with a first round match up with the Woolwich Wild starting Mar 1.  Congratulation ladies!

The U18B Mustangs travelled to London this past weekend to take part in the 32 Annual London Devilettes tournament. This was the third tourney of the year for the girls and they were looking to add some more bling to their already gold & silver collection. This tournament was a great opportunity to see where Grand River was in the conversation of top teams in the province. The Mustangs round robin pool of four comprised three #1 teams in their respective leagues.
