Win Streak Extended to 5 Games
The Novice Mustangs played two games this past weekend. On
Saturday the team won 5-2 against Kitchener, and on Sunday they won 5-1 against
Oakville. With these two wins the team has expanded its winning streak to 5
games, and Mustang goalie Logan Jefferies remains unbeaten.
On Saturday the girls traveled to Kitchener to play the Lady Rangers. The score was tied at 1 after the first period and 2 after the second. However, the Mustangs finished the game strong by scoring 3 unanswered goals in the third period. Goal scorers were Sydney Healey (3) and Brynn Hattle (2). The goals were assisted by Olivia Kosempel, Amanda Johnston, Mirren Litchfield, Alli Pettifer, and Revlyn McManus.
On Sunday the team hosted the Oakville Hornets. Oakville opened the scoring with a power play goal in the first period, however, that was the only time they were able to put the puck past Mustangs goalie Logan Jefferies. The Mustangs offense sparked in the second period with four goals, and the team added another goal in the third period. Goal scorers were Sydney Healey (2), Olivia Kosempel, Lauren MacDonald and Alli Pettifer. The goals were assisted by Sydney Healey, Amanda Johnston, Avery Diljee, and Olivia Kosempel.
This coming weekend the team will faceoff against Oakville again on Saturday and then Guelph on Sunday. Keep up the great skating!
