Last Minute Goal Hands the Mustangs Their First "L" of the LLFHL Season
A slight post holiday let down Saturday found the Atom rep team on the short end of a 2-1 loss to the very solid Woolwich Wild "B" squad. The girls struggled from the drop of the puck to find their jump and rhythm and it cost them at 5:16 of the second period as a deflected point shot found the Woolwich forward and sent her on a break away. She made good on her chance and the Wild led 1-0.
The Mustangs continued to battle through the persistent Woolwich swarm and Kara den Hoed managed to chip one by the keeper knotting the game at 1-1. Almost all of the third went scoreless until with 1:02 left in regulation a puck did not get cleared, bounced off a skate, and landed perfectly on a Woolwich stick. The forward did not miss this late Christmas gift and pounded it top shelf. This is the first loss of the regular season for the Atom rep squad. Always a tough pill to swallow but no time to dwell on it. Losses are things to analyze, learn from and move on from, which is what we are going to do as we face Waterloo tomorrow. Chins up ladies and lets rebound strong on Sunday!
