Regular Season Over - Here Comes the Play Offs!
The Atom rep team wrapped up the LLFHL regular season Sunday in fine style with a 3-1 victory over the hard working Cambridge Roadrunner. It was Kara den Hoed who opened the scoring in the first as she sneaked one under the Roadrunners net minder. Den Hoed was not finished yet as she notched her second before the first period ended - assits to Kendra Harkins and Rachel Patterson. Cambridge and their determined work ethic made it interesting as they scored the only tally in the second closing the gap to one.
With second place at stake the Mustangs would not be denied. The ever hard working Tianna Dietrich showed her veteran savvy and wacked in an ugly one mid way through the third sealing the deal for the home side. Assits to Ria Hamilton and Kendra Harkins. Alexa Milne was, as always, solid between the pipes making several impressive saves keeping her team on top. This solidifies second place overall in the Central West loop and gives the Mustangs home ice for the first two rounds of the LLFHL play offs. The Atom rep team finishes the regular season with a very impressive 18-1-3 record - way to go ladies your first goal has been achieved! The team now prepares for the annual Sweethearts tournament in Orangeville this coming weekend. LLFHL play offs and OWHA play downs will begin the first weekend following. Stay tuned for scheduling!
