Strong Finish To A Great Year
Submitted
By Steve Fogarty on Mar 17, 2014 (1246 views)
We played our last game against the Cambridge Roadrunners and the girls came out firing, controlling the game from the drop of the puck and winning 7-0. Scoring for the Mustangs were Tessa and Fiona with two each. Singles went to Sarah, Emma (her first of the year) and Shan. More important then the score was watching our team use what they learned in practice and apply it in the game. We played well positionally and looked to pass the puck when our teammates were open. On behalf of the bench staff, thanks for a great season girls. I hope you all had as much fun as we did coming to the rink. ...

Superbowl Home Loss
Submitted
By Steve Fogarty on Feb 02, 2014 (767 views)
Just like the Denver Broncos, the Mustangs came out on the wrong side of the score on Sunday. The difference is we competed to the very end against Kitchener as we had several scoring oppurtunities late but ran into a very good goalie. Mielle scored our only goal with assists coming from Emma & MacKenzie. The girls are getting stronger with each game and as coaches that's exactly what we want to see. On another note, Bella & Sid told me the Broncos were going to win the Superbowl. So if they are feeling a little down at Monday's practice we will all know why.

Hard Work Pays Off In Tie
Submitted
By Steve Fogarty on Feb 01, 2014 (650 views)
Although our early morning road record this year hasn't been good, the girls came out and played one of their best games of the year in Waterloo. Wearing our stylish "third jersey", the girls batttled hard and earned a point in a 1-1 tie. Mielle scored the lone goal for us and Paige played a strong game in goal, stopping several breakaways in the third before Waterloo scored with less than a minute to go. Great Job Girls!

Mustangs Rebound With Great Road Effort
Submitted
By Steve Fogarty on Jan 18, 2014 (688 views)
The girls travelled to Kitchener on Saturday to take on the Dolphins. We came out strong and played perhaps our best game of the year. We passed the puck to open players and played our postions very well as we came away with a 4-1 victory. Scoring the goals were Big Mac, Mielle, Shan and Yasmin with her first of the year. The most impressive take away from the game was the play of our defensive pairings of Sarah/Tessa & Bella/Sid. Very strong on the offensive blue line to keep the puck in and as well as in our end by keeping the shots allowed down. The coaching staff was extremely pleased to ...

First Playoff Loss
Submitted
By Steve Fogarty on Jan 12, 2014 (736 views)
The girls had their second playoff game of the year as Waterloo came to town. Both teams skated hard in the first as it went back and forth but neither team could get on the board until the second period. Waterloo opened up the score with a breakaway goal at the midway point. Three minutes later Shan picked up a lose puck and banged it in to tie the score at 1-1. Thats the way the score remained until less then three minutes to go when Waterloo scored two goals in 55 seconds to seal the win.We have a practice before our next game to work on some things. Then its off to Kitchener to play the ...
