First Weekend of Regular Season!
The regular season started off for the Mustangs with a couple of tough games this past weekend. First, they travelled to Stoney Creek on Saturday to take on the always tough Sabres. The girls from Stoney Creek skated a little harder than the Mustangs and the Mustangs went home with a 6-2 loss. The girls bounced back on Sunday with a very strong effort against Oakville and earned their first point of the season with a 3-3 tie. Great work girls!

We are in a close division this year girls, so we will all have to fight hard for every point!

In the first game of the year against Stoney Creek, the Mustangs struggled to stop the strong offense of the Sabres. The Sabres have a couple of really strong skating forwards that can drive to the net through traffic and they proved a little too much for the girls on Saturday morning. The Sabres managed to jump out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period. The Mustang's first goal of the game came at 7:50 of the second period from Alli Pettifer, assisted by Ella Zwep. Alli manged to score one more goal for the Mustangs in the third period and this goal was assisted by Alwynn Mackie. The final score of the game was 6-2 for the Sabres.

In the second game of the year, the Mustangs faced off against the Oakville Hornets on Sunday afternoon. It was a nail biter of a game that ended in a 3-3 tie. Oakville opened up the scoring only 39 seconds into the game to make it 1-0. Ella Zwep was in a great position in front of the net and she was able to bang in the rebound off a shot from Amanda Johnston with only 36 seconds left in the period which tied the score at 1. Early in the second period, the Mustangs went up 2-1 on a goal from Alli. The assist on the goal went to Victoria Smith. The first part of the 3rd period belonged to Oakville as they managed to score two goals and take a 3-2 lead. The Mustang girls fought back very hard during the rest of the period and managed to tie the game with only 3 minutes left in the game. This was Alli's second goal of the game and it was unassisted. It was an impressive effort by the Mustang girls to fight hard and maintain the the tie during the final 3 minutes.

Great work girls, we managed to earn our first point of the season! Lets work even harder to get our first win of the regular season on Saturday against North Halton!
