Road Trip
The Atom girls got their first taste of playing on the road this year with a 10am game the morning after Halloween in Kitchener.
It was a back and forth first period with both goalies being equal to the task and keeping the scoreboard at 0-0.
With the start of the second, Kitchener started pressing the attack and putting the girls back on their heels. The pressure paid off as the Lions scored three unanswered goals in the period to take a 3-0 lead into the final period.
With the start of the third, the Mustangs dug down and started to bring the game to the home team. Goals from Willow and Abby B cut the lead to 3-2. The girls continued to attack looking for the equalizer, unfortunately the Bobcats sealed the win with a goal with less than a minute to go to win 4-2.
As I told the girls the following day at practice, the effort that was put in was awesome. We took what we worked on in practice and applied it to the game. We are getting better each week and are heading in the right direction.
