PB Calls Her Shot
Playing their second game in three days, the Atom girls hosted the Kitchener Lions in Elora Monday night.

The girls of Grand River are playing some of their best hockey of the year right now and they wanted to keep it rolling for the hometown fans.

And rolling they did, with less than four minutes to go, "Dr. Doom" Fogarty scored with assists coming from "Waffles" Olywa and "Fee" Gillies to put the home team up by 1-0. "Brownie" scored before the end of the period to put the Mustangs up by 2-0 heading into the second.

The second was a back and forth battle with "Van" Halen holding the fort until "Wheels" Castellan hit the twine on an end to end rush to make the score 3-0.

Peyton "PB" Brideau has been saying for weeks that we need to get her a goal, which would be her first ever. My response was always the same, keep working and it will come. With 8:05 left in the third, the work she has been putting in paid off as "PB" scored her first goal to put the Mustangs up by 4-0. The crowd went nuts as PB skated back to the bench to be mobbed by her teammates. "Brownie" finished off the scoring with her second goal of the game to make the final score 5-0.

Although not on the score sheet, special mention to "Clo" Anderson who had several chances down the stretch to score, played her position and skated hard all night.

The Atom girls finished off the season schedule playing their absolute best hockey at the best possible time. With the win the Atom team pulled into a tie for second place in the group of 6 and clinched a playoff spot in the semi's.
