Home Opener at the Corral
The girls of Grand River finally got the chance to show of their skills in front of the home town crowd Sunday night as they tangled with the Wilmot Wolverines.

In a complete role reversal from the previous game, the Stangs came out of the gate ready to play. Getting pucks low and using the forecheck to generate offense. Perhaps the girls were a little too eager to play as they found themselves with two players in the box and playing short 5 on 3. Wilmot, a very skilled team, didn't take long to capitalize on the PP to take the early 1-0 lead.

After the goal the home team buckled down, getting back to their game plan of rolling three lines to wear down the Wolverines. Despite owning the edge in shots 14-5 after the first two periods, the Mustangs were still behind on the scoreboard 1-0.

The third period had the play going back and forth, with both Andie and the Wilmot tendy keeping their teams in the game by kicking out biscuits. Five minutes into the third, Mo fired a laser beam top cheese to knot up the score 1-1. Not happy to settle with a tie, the girls turned it up and with less then a minute to go Chaser dished off to Burnzie behind the net for a one timer off the iron to keep the score and the tie intact as the final buzzer went.

Great effort & performance by the Stangs as it definitely set the bar for expectations for the rest of the season.
